Privacy Policy — Promptly

1. Who we are and what Promptly is
Promptly is an iOS app developed by Gabriel Vaz (Salvador, Bahia, Brazil): a teleprompter camera that helps creators record videos by reading their script near the lens, naturally.
This Privacy Policy describes what data Promptly processes, how it uses that data, and your rights. It is aligned with the App Store Review Guidelines (5.1 Privacy), Brazil's LGPD (Law 13.709/2018) and the GDPR.
2. Data processed on your device
Your scripts, titles, AI rewrite versions and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone via SwiftData and UserDefaults. There is no Promptly-owned server.
The videos you record are saved locally inside the app (Documents folder) and, with your permission, also to your photo library (Photos).
Golden rule: the teleprompter text lives only in the interface, over the camera preview — it is NEVER written into the recorded video file.
3. Camera, microphone and photos
Camera and microphone are used solely to record your videos on the device. The captured content is not sent to us or to any third party.
Photos access is requested only to save (add) the videos you record. The app does not read or scan your photo library.
Each permission is requested contextually, at the moment of use, and can be revoked at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security on your iPhone.
4. On-device Artificial Intelligence
The AI features (shorten, naturalize, create hooks, adjust tone, custom prompt) use Apple Foundation Models, which run locally on your iPhone (Apple Intelligence).
Your scripts are NOT sent to our servers or to any third-party cloud service for this processing. On-device AI requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone on iOS 26; where unsupported, the app keeps working as a teleprompter and camera.
5. iCloud sync (optional)
If you are signed in to iCloud, your scripts and preferences may sync across your devices via CloudKit, inside your private iCloud database controlled by your Apple account.
That data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and is not accessible to us. Recorded videos are not synced through this mechanism.
6. Data the app does NOT collect
No signup, no login, no profile — Promptly does not require an account to work.
No third-party analytics (Firebase, Mixpanel, PostHog, Google Analytics) and no advertising SDKs.
No cross-app or cross-site tracking (NSPrivacyTracking = false). We do not request the advertising identifier (IDFA).
7. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties.
When you use the iOS share sheet to export a video or script (AirDrop, Messages, Files, etc.), the destination is chosen by you and governed by that service's terms.
8. Your rights (LGPD / GDPR)
Since we do not collect personally identifiable data, there is no record on our side to correct, export or delete.
You control all your data locally: you can delete scripts and recordings individually, or use the `Erase all data` option in the app's Settings, which removes scripts, recordings and preferences and resets the app to its first-launch state.

9. Children
Promptly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
